A monthly subscription for YouTube TV is now $82.99 per month, an increase of $10 monthly. The new price starts today for new subscribers. Current customers will see the price hike starting January 13.

On a help page, YouTube explained the cost increase for a subscription:

As content costs have risen and we continue to invest in the quality of our service, we’re updating our price to keep bringing you the best possible TV experience.

The last price increase for YouTube TV was in March 2023 when it went from $64.99 to $72.99.

After the price increase, subscribers will still be able to access more than 100 channels, a DVR with unlimited storage, up to 6 accounts per household, and three concurrent streams. To stream 4K content, you will still need to pay an extra $9.99 per month.

The new YouTube TV cost is the same as the Hulu + Live TV, Disney+, and ESPN+ bundle.

Sling TV Offers Better Value

If you’re looking for a less expensive streaming TV service, take a look at Sling TV. To help save cash, you can subscribe to either Sling Blue or Sling Orange for $45.99 per month. Sling Orange focuses on sports with a wide variety of ESPN channels. Sling Blue is more news focused with MSNBC and Fox News. For both tiers, you can pay $60.99 per month.

You don’t have to pay any extra to see the limited amount of 4K content on Sling. But 4K is limited to some devices and excludes most notably Apple TV.

Even though Sling TV recently raised its prices as well, it’s still easily the best choice compared to YouTube TV if you’re not interested in local channels and are happy with the smaller number of options available.

And with the consistent price increases, you might even want to consider the old standard—cable TV. There are a number of reasons to drop streaming and head back to cable.
