PM Modi’s Meeting With Kapoor Family’s Ranbir, Kareena, Alia, Saif Goes Viral; Netizens Ask, ‘He Has Time To…?’

Recently, Prime Minister Narendra Modi met the Kapoor family – including some extended members – before the 100th birth anniversary of Raj Kapoor; the patriarch of the famous Bollywood family. PM Modi took to X (formerly known as Twitter) and wrote, “This year, we mark Shri Raj Kapoor Ji’s birth centenary. He is admired not only in India, but all across the world for his contribution to cinema. I had the opportunity to meet his family members at 7, LKM. Here are the highlights…”

The PM also shared a video of the meeting, in which we can see Ranbir Kapoor, Alia Bhatt, Kareena Kapoor Khan, Saif Ali Khan, Karishma Kapoor, Neetu Kapoor, Riddhima Kapoor Sahni, and more members of the Kapoor family.

Naturally, netizens had a lot of say about this confluence of Bollywood and Politics. Many praised the PM for meeting the Kapoors before Raj Kapoor’s 100th birthday, while the others criticised him for the same. For instance, one person wrote, “this has to be a joke,” followed by “100 years of Raj Kapoor so surely the celebrations must be with Modi… that makes total sense.”

Many, many more people reacted to the meeting. Naming Alia Bhatt, one person’s tweet read, “Karishma Kapoor with one of the greatest actors, and Alia Bhatt,” while another viral tweet, with a still from the movie American Psycho, said, “Mahesh Bhatt and Pooja Bhatt watching Alia Bhatt praising PM Narendra Modi.” This makes sense as both Mahesh and Pooja Bhatt have been well-known critics of PM Modi.

Meanwhile, some gloated over the fact that Modi me the Kapoor Khandaan, with one Twitter user saying, “This gushing over our beloved PM Modi by the entire Kapoor Khandaan – Ranbir Kapoor, Kareena Kapoor, Alia Bhatt – is going to cause massive burn to libtards,” while another, being less positive, said, “What a wholesome conversation of Prime Minister of India with Bollywood Actors. Finally, we have a Prime Minister who doesn’t waste his time on issues like falling rupee, weakening economy, slipping GDP, or a burning Manipur. Priorities.”

One more user sarcastically wrote, “It’s crazy how PM Modi looks better than Bollywood actors despite working 22 hours a day to create a viksit Bharat without taking a single leave,” while another person said, “Indian PM avoids addressing a press conference. Modi avoids even condemning ongoing state sponsored Islamist attacks against Hindus in Bangladesh. Over a thousand killed in Manipur, but PM has not cares to visit the state, but he has time to meet and greet Bollywood.”

Another person, highlighting the fact that actors get to meet the PM easily, tweeted, “Ranbir Kapoor, entire kapoor and Pataudi’s family have easy access to meet the Indian PM Modi. What about the common citizens? A PM should be like a common man where he shouldn’t show any partiality to the VIP citizens. Let them wait like common citizens to get an appointment.”

For those who don’t know, the Kapoor family met the Prime Minister of India and extended him an invitation to attend the celebration of Raj Kapoor’s birth centenary. Alia Bhatt, for instance, wrote on Instagram, “Art is timeless. And sometimes to move forward, we must look back and learn. Mr. Raj Kapoor’s impact was truly global. He marked his footprint all across the world with the movies he made, the stories he told. Yesterday was such an honour to be invited by our respected Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi Ji, to spend a lovely afternoon commemorating the life and legend of Mr. Raj Kapoor. Merely listening to his stories makes me learn so much, and his legacy continues to inspire. We’re thrilled to celebrate 100 glorious years of his artistry with the ‘Raj Kapoor 100 Film Festival’ from 13th-15th December in 10 cities, 40 cinemas, 135 screens, across the country.”
