You can find pretty much anything on Amazon, and now that includes cars. Amazon Autos has just launched to provide a simpler way to purchase a car.
A Haggle-Free Experience
Finding a new car should be a familiar process for anyone who has ever shopped on Amazon. You can select a specific model and narrow the choice down further by selecting exterior color, interior color, and more.
Each car page has detailed information about the specific model. The price listed on the site is what you’ll pay as there’s no haggling required.
When it comes time to make a purchase, you can also get a valuation on a trade-in as well.
At checkout, you can pay in full or secure financing from a number of banks. You’ll then sign the majority of the paperwork online. Instead of free Prime shipping, the final step is to make an appointment at a local dealership to pick up the new car.
Currently, the service is only available to purchase a new Hyundai models in 48 major U.S. cities including New York, Los Angeles, Atlanta, and Dallas. More cities and manufacturers will arrive sometime next year. Amazon also says that leasing options and expanded financing choices are also planned for 2025.
I tried out the Autos site, and finding a car was as simple as purchasing a bag of coffee. I looked at a specific car page and saw everything you’d encounter during the usually long and drawn out price at the dealer.
My favorite feature is an estimated monthly payment, a big factor when looking for a car, and something that you could wait hours to find out with a traditional dealer.
Jumping Into a Crowded Market
It’s not hard to purchase a car online. Along with big-name brands like Carvana, manufacturers like Rivian and Tesla all allow you to purchase a vehicle with little to no work required at pickup.
But with Amazon’s place as the go-to e-commerce retailer, Amazon Autos will likely take off, especially after adding cars from other manufacturers and maybe even used vehicles.
While you’re looking for a vehicle, the newly launched Amazon Haul offers products for $20 or less.
